When you are hungover and the thought of the madness that surrounds other cafés in Fitzroy North makes you want to never get out of bed, you should head to Mitte café. Get a table outside and relax under the trees on this leafy, not too busy, mostly residential, street.
Last time I went I was in the mood for sweets and ordered the crumble with macadamia nuts- seriously good and I enjoyed every last bite. I found the texture of the mascarpone complemented the crunch of the crumble and the buttery softness of the apples although the flavour itself was a little bland. Lucky for Mitte the crumble was so delicious that it didn't even need an accompaniment.
Now I know what you are thinking and no I didn't actually order two breakfasts although I got a few good bites from this chorizo omelette with relish to die for.
Mitte = a new weekend favourite!!
